Tal and Dr. Adi Shoham live in Carmiel with their two young children, Nave and Yahel (Yula). Adi is a crisis and trauma psychologist. She has a PhD in clinical psychology from Haifa University. Their cousin Shira describes the two children as intelligent and beautiful, just starting their lives.
On October 7th, 2023, they were spending the Simchat Torah holiday visiting Adi’s parents Shoshan and Avshalom Haran in Kibbutz Be’eri, as well as Avshalom’s sister Sharon and her daughter Noam (age 12). When the Hamas terorirsts infiltrated, they hid in the home’s shelter together. Shoshan’s sister Lilach and her husband Evyatar Kipnis were hiding in a different shelter on the Kibbutz and were murdered.
All of the inhabitants of the Haran shelter were taken to Gaza except for Avshalom who was killed. The house was set on fire and burned by the terrorists. Tal was witnessed being put into a trunk of a vehicle, handcuffed and alive, driven toward Gaza. Adi and the children are German citizens, and Tal has Austrian citizenship. Both embassies as well as representatives from the European Union are in touch with the families.
